Boats
The Boats module is the heart of TheBoatApp — the starting point for every user's digital marine life. It is where a boat owner registers and configures their vessel(s), creating a dedicated, persistent profile that acts as the anchor for all other features within the app (Logbook, Inventory, Maintenance, Checklists, Documents, Tasks, Alerts, Costs, and more).
When registering a boat, TheBoatApp leverages the power of TheBoatDB — a comprehensive boat specifications database — to pre-populate standardised technical data (the Master-boat) for thousands of makes and models. The user then builds upon this foundation by adding their own personal details, creating what is referred to as the User-boat: a uniquely personalised profile that reflects the actual, real-world condition and configuration of their vessel.
This dual-layer approach — factory/standard data combined with owner-defined personalisation — ensures that users benefit from accurate, pre-validated specifications whilst retaining full flexibility to describe their boat exactly as it is. Whether you own a sailing yacht, a motorboat, a catamaran, or a RIB, the Boats module gives every owner a single, organised, cloud-backed record of their vessel, accessible from any device, online or offline.
