Alerts
The Alerts module is TheBoatApp's centralised notification and reminder hub — a single, unified view that consolidates time-sensitive and action-required alerts generated automatically across all the app's core modules, including Documents, Tasks, Inventory, Maintenance, and Costs.
Rather than having to navigate through each individual module to check what is overdue, expiring, or upcoming, the Alerts module brings everything to one place, giving boat and yacht owners an at-a-glance overview of what requires their attention. This dramatically reduces the risk of missing critical deadlines — such as an expiring safety certificate, an overdue service, or a task that is past its due date — which could otherwise compromise safety, compliance, or the vessel's overall condition and resale value.
In essence, the Alerts module acts as the boat's "health pulse", proactively keeping the owner informed and in control, whether they are on board or ashore.
- Cross-module consolidation — Aggregates alerts from all relevant modules (Documents, Tasks, Inventory, Maintenance, Costs, etc.) into a single, unified list, eliminating the need to check each module individually.
- Expiry & deadline reminders — Automatically surfaces upcoming and overdue expiry dates, such as insurance policies, safety certificates, registrations, and licences stored in the Documents module.
- Task due-date alerts — Flags tasks that are approaching their due date or are already overdue, ensuring nothing on the to-do list is forgotten.
- Inventory & stock level alerts — Notifies the user when inventory items flagged for monitoring reach a critical status or require attention (e.g. replacement, restocking).
- Maintenance schedule reminders — Highlights maintenance jobs that are due or overdue based on schedules defined in the Maintenance module.
- Cost & budget alerts — Surfaces cost-related reminders, such as upcoming scheduled expenditures or payment deadlines tracked in the Costs module.
- Priority-based visibility — Distinguishes between overdue alerts and upcoming alerts, allowing users to prioritise urgent actions over planned ones.
- Clickable/actionable alerts — Each alert links directly back to the originating record in its source module, enabling the user to act on it immediately without having to navigate manually.
- Persistent tracking — Alerts remain visible until the underlying issue is resolved (e.g. a document is renewed, a task is marked complete), ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
- Multi-boat awareness — For users managing more than one vessel, the Alerts module reflects the alert status per boat, keeping each vessel's needs clearly separated and trackable.
